Inter-Miami had a tough challenge throughout the season only winning 1 game within the past 9 regular season MLS regular season matched.
Moreover, they were set to face Cruz Azul who have been performing in Leagues Cup only losing to the Chicago Fire in the group stage. With the likes of Eric Lira and Willer Ditta it did seem like a tough match for the Campeons Cup for Miami to take this cup home. Ironically this match would be a rematch to the 2023 Leagues Cup Final where Leo Messi scored his first goal for the team and helping secure the Leagues Cup win.
However at the 24th minute Leo Messi scores a goal (assisted by Luis Suarez) opening up the match for the game. This marks Leo Messi’s 100th goal in the MLS since he joined Inter-Maimi CF back in 2023 against the same team he had faced first since coming to the team.
At the 81st minute Casemiro sealed the match by scoring a header assisted by Messi and securing the Campeones Cup for Inter-Miami. With Messi’s arrival to Miami, they have secured an MLS Cup, Leagues Cup, and the Campeones Cup. As playoff start very soon for the MLS Inter-Miami are arriving with a new trophy to add to the collection.
With this momentum Miami is looking good for the future matches heading into the MLS playoffs
